Some Things Just Don’t Belong in the Toilet

Sewer Overflows Are a Mess­. Disposable Does Not Mean Flusha­ble!

Flushing paper towels and other garbage down the toilet wastes wa­ter and can create sewer backups and overflows. This can cause time -consuming backups in the public sewer pipes and at the local wastewater treatment plant, and related costs can be passed on to ratepayers. Even if its label reads “flushable”, you are still safer and more environmentally correct to place the item in a trashcan. And because homeowners are responsi­ble for their property’s sewer pipes, improper flushing can cost you big money. You plug it, you pay for it.

If you have a light or alarm, call our office and give the service address, your name, phone number, and a description of the problem. We will dispatch a service technician as soon as we can.

If you can’t eat it, don’t flush it.

DO NOT flush any items like:

  • Baby wipes and diapers
  • Rags and towels
  • Cotton swabs or cloth of any type
  • Syringes
  • Adult cleansing wipes (AKA Flushable Wipes)
  • Cleaning Wipes (Lysol, Clorox etc.)
  • Paper towels
  • Candy or other food wrappers
  • Toys
  • Rubber items of any kind
  • Cigarette butts
  • Feminine hygiene products and applicators
  • Silverware
  • Aquarium gravel or kitty litter
  • Hair
  • Cleaning sponges
  • Clothing items & labels
  • Disposable toilet brushes
  • Screws or nails
  • Banana peels, apple cores etc.
  • Wood items
  • Candles or wax products
  • Bandages or gauze
  • Metal objects
  • Plastic bottles or straws
  • Tin cans
  • Styrofoam
  • Batteries
  • Electronic devices
  • Dentures
  • Dental Floss
  • Toothbrushes
  • Toothpaste tubes
  • Grease
  • Dirt or stones
  • latex items
  • Hair/Beard net
